Do you know how it feels to run a straight razor down your arm?
Or the heeling pain of slicing your skin?

Do you know the sudden spilling rush of blood and adrenalin?
Or the taste of the coppery liquid?

Do you know how it feels to be so alone?
Or the suffocating freedom?

Do you know what it's like to only want to know the same four walls?
Or to know what you are doing to yourself?

Do you know the draining sorrow of knowing no loving beauty?
Or how it feels to drown at night in your tears?

Do you know how it feels to never fit in?
Or to feel isolated when in a crowd?

Do you know the driven chaos that makes you consider that bottle of pills, hidden in a cabinet in the bathroom?
Or the contemplation of a fall?

If you know none of these things then how can you tell me to get over it?
I wrote this poem for a friend. (Like usual) They were going through a real rough patch and recently tried to kill themselves. I was surprised at how many people were so uncaring about it; they didn't take it seriously or they just said "Get over it".

But i wrote this to say, unless you really know how it feels, you can't judge how that person feels on the inside.

ugh, I hate when people say things like that! This poem is really perfect for getting the message across that even something that seems small to one person can mean the world to someone else. really nice job.
